Bharat shines
70% of India's population living in the rural areas.A type of an illusion is created in the media that everything in this country is hunky-dory. Still, farmer suicides are unabated in western India.
India ranks first in the poverty index overtaking some of the worst African countries with thousands of thousands of children die due to malnutrition (paradoxically, India also ranks 1st as the diabetic capital of the world) on the one side the Government exhorts for nutrition and conducting program mes for the masses to cut down food intake on the other, truly ! India is a funny place.
The last 17 years of liberalization have helped thousands of families to come out of the poverty. But, still the hinterland remain untouched. Hence, a holistic approach should be evolved to embrace rural areas in the next wave of economic liberalization so that one can proudly India shining oops! sorry Bharat shining
